Grids that stay flexible
03, June 2021
A grid should survive a long headline and a short one. If it only works with dummy titles, it is not a grid.
We build grids from content, not from a 12-column habit. Editorial sites need a floor the images can push against. Product sites need a column that still works when the name is longer than the mockup.
“If a visitor has to hunt for the next step, the layout is still unfinished.”
Campaigns get the applause. Systems keep the brand honest after the launch week.
The useful test is whether the next designer can use the files without calling us.
